Flaxen cord is a thin yellow string similar to a tread of twine.
Bind your hands with a simple strand and you can easily breakaway.
Wrap instead with several loops and you can become incapacitated.
This flaxen cord analogy is easily compared to our habits.
We can become free of a few bad habits.
But, bad habits compounded will freeze us from positive ACTION.
William James referred to each of us as “walking bundles of habits.”
The English writer, Samuel Johnson once said;
“The chains of habit are to small to be felt until they are too strong to be broken.”
There’s an old Spanish Proverb that goes; “Habits are at first cobwebs, then cables.”
Charles A. Hall once aptly pronounced;
“We sow our thoughts, and we reap our actions. We sow our actions, and we reap our habits. We sow our habits, and we reap our characters. We sow our characters, and we reap our destiny.”
Take a close look at your habits today.
The good ones…keep.
But maybe…it’s time to eliminate some of those bad ones.
Today’s a great day to start!
Smiles, have a GREAT week and Keep on Seeking…Mark
