But you may not realize that we’re also taking in information through a wealth of other mechanisms.
If you enjoy staying balanced, it’s because proprioception tells you where your body is in space.
And don’t ignore your kinesthetic receptors.
They detect the stretching in your muscles and tendons, which help you keep track of your various body parts.
It’s also really cool to have receptors that keep track of how much oxygen is flowing through your arteries.
Amazing stuff isn’t it?
All in all, scientists have found that we actually have 21 senses, which help us with balance, pain and temperature.
