I believe we can agree that you can have the title of Leader, but that doesn’t actually make you a Leader.
Leaders inspire…..not for a day, but for years to come.
I bet you could name several people right now that were a true inspiration to you, a Trust Based Leader you follow or would follow again.
And I’d also wager that you could name a person or two that had the title of leader, but did not understand what is required to actually lead.
If you choose to become (or continue to be) the definition of a Trust Based Leader, here are four ways you can do it;
1. Managers push people to perform but Leaders have a “Vision” for the future = Be responsible for the success of the organization by clarifying the future then inspiring people to join with you in creating it.
2. Lead by example = People are watching your every move. Inspire them by your actions and your example and take immediate responsibility for your failures.
3. Be a spokesperson they can be proud of =Trust Based Leaders read and Trust Based Leaders speak…boldly and proudly, but humbly…and never ever speak arrogantly. Impress your followers with deep knowledge, understanding, empathy and a commitment to always doing and saying what’s right. That includes both private and public presentations.
4. Train your replacement = It’s important to have the right people on the bus in the right seats, but it’s equally important to prepare your company or your organization (or your family) for your departure = no matter how smart or healthy or wise you are, you won’t live forever in THIS life. Inspire and train someone that can replace you!
Trust Based Leaders lead by example, with integrity and with wisdom.
If you’re not already, become a Trust Based Leader……this world really needs you!
Smiles, have a GREAT week and Keep on Seeking…….Mark
