Could You Use An Information Diet?
The world of information is traveling so fast that we get all the news in real time.
I’m not so sure that it’s a good thing? All the noise is a little overwhelming and a lot distracting.
My phone pings with news from CNN and the Huffington Post all day every day.
If you’re like many, you’re getting so many invitations from Facebook and LinkedIn that you could spend an hour everyday just deciding who to accept into your circle.
A November 2012 study from Dr. Larry Rosen at Cal State University even declared that today’s average college student cannot go longer than four minutes without texting or consulting social media! Ouch!!
Maybe it’s time for an electronic information diet?
Instead of grabbing your smart phone, or smart pad, or sitting down at your computer, how about picking up a good old book. You know………the hard or soft bound kind.
Trim the fat and read for 30 minutes a day, even if it is only 10 minutes at a time. Just think? Thirty minutes a day, five days a week, 50 weeks a year, and you’ve expanded your mind a total of 7500 minutes, 125 hours.
And consider the new thoughts, the creativity, the inspiration you might acquire if you filled your mind with new ideas for more than 5 full days in the next 12 months.
It would be AMAZING……………It could be life changing!
