Adversaries into Allies
The past 10 days or so, I’ve been reading Bob Burg’s newest book “Adversaries into Allies” along with a couple of other books and bob has reminded me of important principles we should all be practicing.
You likely know Bob. He and the brilliant writer John David Mann wrote the New York Times Best Seller “The Go-Giver” which has been on my recommended reading list for several years. I still mention it regularly when teaching and speaking.
In “Adversaries into Allies”, Bob’s principle of Ultimate Influence is defined as the ability to get the results you want from others while making them feel genuinely good about themselves, about the process, and about you.
You will learn the five principles to move a person to a different thought or action. These powerful and effective principles make reading this book worth your time and consideration:
1. Control your own emotions
2. Understand the clash of belief systems
3. Acknowledge their ego
4. Set the proper frame
5. Communicate with tact and empathy
I’ll finish by Sunday. It’s an easy read with lots of relevant stories and I love that Bob writes many brief two or three page chapters covering each of the five principles. There are a total of 76 chapters that make it simple to stop and start anytime you have a few minutes throughout your day (the way I read and absorb best).
Come early January, I’ll attach my newest recommended reading list to my weekly Mark’s Minute. In the meantime, thanks for reading, sharing my thoughts with others, and making your community a better place to live……..let’s keep making it a priority!………….smiles, have a great week and Keep on Seeking…………..Mark
