Mark’s Minute – January 28, 2015 – Competitor VS. Casualty

My daughter Kerri jokingly says….. “You’ve got to risk it to get the biscuit!”
It is, in fact, a very valid statement.
Here’s an example.
Many people loath Duke University and Coach Mike Krzyzewski.
You may be one of them?
But………try for a moment to respect the man for the accomplishment.
1000 wins……………………that really is amazing.
He didn’t get there alone.
Coach K surrounded himself with a supportive family, a lot of exceptional players, very talented assistant coaches, and a hard working staff (there’s another lesson in that thought).
But………here’s what is also interesting.
Coach K has lost 308 times. That’s a bunch of losses.
For many, losing 30% of your efforts would be overwhelming.
Moral……..to be a big winner, you also have to be willing to risk being a big loser.
Only then will you be remembered as a Competitor or a Casualty.
Get in the game, take big chances…..risk it to get the biscuit.
When you set your priorities, focus intently on the tasks that help you accomplish them and do the work, remarkable things will happen.
I’ll bet on you every time to win a lot more than you lose.
And……….You’ll be a competitor that some people hate and envy………..just like Mike the Master!
Smiles, have a GREAT week, and Keep on Seeking…………..Mark
