I was reminded this past weekend of an important principle my good friend Larry Kendall has shared with thousands of people across the world.
You will be the same tomorrow except for three things;
1. The books you read
2. The places you go
3. And the people you meet
I’m probably preaching to the choir here, but it’s interesting how many folks rarely read and they are missing the opportunity to increase their knowledge and expand their mind. You might have heard that “a mind once expanded to the dimensions of larger ideas, will never return to its original size”, so begin by choosing a small book. Just read something new every day with intention to increase your knowledge or improve your skills.
My family loves to joke about a funny line in the movie Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. I believe Bill could be quoted as saying “The World is full of history”, and Bill is right. It is, and you are making it! Go seek out some new adventure every day. Something you will want to share with kids’ years from now.
Aren’t people interesting? Every time you meet someone new, you open opportunities and increase possibilities. I often begin a speaking engagement or class by giving the audience one minute to introduce themselves to one or two people……someone they do not already know. At first, a few roll their eyes, but you should feel how the energy in the room always increases. Seek to introduce yourself to someone new every day. You might just be amazed at what happens next!
These concepts may actually be a simple system, so give it a try. You might find it to be truly effective…
